What's this thing?!

Wow, we have been home for 3 weeks! It seems much longer than that. Zach is doing great. His weight on Wed was 9 lb 9 oz, almost 8 lbs more than when he was born. Every time I hold him I am amazed at how far he has come. He used to fit in my shirt, now he reaches from my collar bones to my hips. We moved him to his crib this week. He grunts so loudly sometimes, usually in the early morning. I wasn't able to sleep enough & he sleeps well in the crib, so it is working. He goes to sleep around 5 pm. It was 6 pm, but then we had the time change. I haven't been able to make him stay up any later. Tonight he started fussing at 4:30, I put him down & then he slept for a bit, but then was awake for about 1/2 hour. He just looks around & chills out. I guess he has had enough stimulation & just needs his "alone" time. He then goes to sleep on his own. It's funny, because he needs his pacifier to sleep for his naps, but goes to sleep without it at night. I'm not complaining. We are working on tummy time, he is doing crawling movements when he is on his tummy. He is getting better at lifting his head more consistently. Phil had a picture of his used in the Seahorse exhibit at the Birch Aquarium. They had an event on Thursday night & we got to go. They took his picture of a banded seahorse & blew it up & put it on the wall. They exhibit should be there for at least 3 years. It will be so cool when Phil can take Zach & show him his daddy's photograph in the museum. We are waiting on an evaluation from Early Intervention to assess how Zach is doing developmentally. I think that he is meeting his milestones for his adjusted age, but does like to keep his head to the right much more than to the left. We'll see what they say. His surgeon did a follow up & has discharged him from her care, urology saw him & he was unimpressed with his hydronephrosis. We will do ultrasounds at 3 & 6 months just to make sure nothing gets worse. Most preemies outgrow this issue by the time that they are 2 years old. He continues to have slightly elevated blood pressures, so we will check with his pediatrician on Monday to see what she wants to do.
