Lilypie Premature Baby tickers

It has meant so much to me to have so much support from everyone. Who knew 10 1/2 months ago that Zach would be doing so well. Zach now has 2 bottom teeth. He rolls back to tummy like a pro & then pivots himself around on his tummy. He does a little rolling across the floor, but he has bonked his head a few times on the tiles & apparently didn't enjoy the experience :) He is sitting up much better than in March. He will be starting therapy this month. Zach was diagnosed with a 33% Cognitive delay. Who knows what that will actually mean. If he would have been born a year earlier (before the budget cuts in CA) he would have automatically gotten therapy based on his birth weight & gestational age at birth. If you could just see him, it is amazing how well he is doing. He is now trying so hard to crawl! I have a hard time getting him to sleep now as when I lay him down, he is immediately up on his hands & knees rocking back & forth. I continue to increase the foods that he is eating. He is now on meats & is trying different textures. He makes quite the faces. He is probably about 15 pounds now. We don't go to the doctor as often as we used to, we will have 6 weeks between visits this time. The doctor thought about 12 weeks, but I just wasn't ready for that yet. His growth curve flattened out a little bit, so I want to make sure he is getting the nutrition he needs. He has some days that he is just more interested in the world than in drinking his bottle. We slowly starting to come out of hibernation. I have had to take Zach on some errands this last week. He loved being out & seeing everything & all of the people. It will be great to finally be able to socialize with him a little more. Anyway, thank you everyone. I can't even begin to express to you how much all of your support has meant to me. In the early days & the whole time that Zach was in the hospital, it helped so much to come on here & read everyone's comments. It really helped me make it through those rough times. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Dawná

  1. Dawna & Phil~ It is amazing to see how much Zach has grown! And his smile - what a little charmer! I am so happy to hear that he is doing well, and I am certain that he will do well with therapy - I am glad that he is able to receive it. His weight and development brought me back - Aliya was 14 pounds and had just learned to sit up at 11 months when I adopted her. So teeny tiny - but she thrived, and Zach will too!
